Happy Birthday Eric

Yes, today is April Fools Day. It's also little Eric's first birthday!

Notice the bruise on his head? His sister likes to body-slam him. That's what big sisters are for, right?

My little April Fool. We had all sorts of plans for the day, but because of the snow storm rolling through, we're playing it by ear (though I'm hoping we can take the bugger out for a special lunch and for his first hair cut!). I laugh thinking about the weather today, considering it was a balmy 70 degrees the day Eric was born (I came home from the hospital on Easter Sunday, and it was 80 degrees!). To read about his birth, head over here. We are having a birthday party for him tomorrow. I'll be back next week with pictures!

Happy birthday Eric! I love you to the moon and stars and all the way back again.

  1. Hi Deanna, Eric is such a cutie-pie - and those eyes!!! Happy Birthday! I remember last Easter - we live in New Jersey and had our whole dinner buffet outside that day - so unusual! Thanks for stopping by my brunch blog - I am also a fan of boozy brunches - I couldn't fathom them any other way! Ciao, bella! xxoo

  3. I popped over and read how little Eric entered the world. I had an emergency c-section with my first son (he was so big the drs thought he was twins for awhile) and scheduled section for my second. The first section was terrible - dr found a softball sized cyst on my uterus that had to be removed which lead to the epidural wearing off. The nurse thought I was crazy but soon realized I was serious when I told her I could feel everything they were doing. Her "fix" for the situation was to give me Tylenol with Codine apparently not realizing I was allergic to Tylenol. The situation went from bad to worse. The incision then got infected after I left the hospital so the dr just reopened right there in her office with no numbing anything at all as if the first time without drugs wasn't enough. Needless to say I was terrified for my second c-section. That surgery went better but the outcome was much scarier - my little one was in the RNICU for seven days which was terrible. Thankfully both are doing great now.

Another comment from your birth story - your family is totally adorable! :)

  4. Hi "Farm Girl" - Yay to drinking! I know I shouldn't say that, but I do love a cold beer or good cocktail every now and then!

Lynn, Oh My Goodness! I thought my first c-section was awful!! When I had my second appt. with Edith, the nurse said, "You're having twins, right?" I about fainted. I think she was looking at the wrong chart or something. At the 20 week appt. with Eric, we were told he was going to have Down syndrome (which, after going through an insane amount of testing, we found out was going to be something called Edwards Syndrome which has a really high infant mortality rate). Turns out, he was perfect! All that worrying for nothing. Dave picked on me while I was being stitched-up on the OR table and said "What?! He's got eleven toes!!" I was so drugged up I yelled back "CUT IT OFF!!!" We do crazy things in labor. Thanks for the compliments about my family!!
